Population Control: Issues & Implication (The lighter side of things...)

The following article is an email message sent to me by a Fraternity brother who is also a seminarian in Mindanao. This is an interesting piece worth taking a look into. I hope you enjoy reading this. Here's the article and read on:

GO FORTH, AND MULTIPLY

There is an article by Fr. Greg Gaston who used to work for the Vatican's Congregation of Family Life stating that the "world, especially the West, is experiencing a population collapse". "That the one to two child policies in industrialized countries can reach a point of no return in terms of population instability".

Meaning once the pronounced point is reached where there are more old people living than the young there will be an irrevocable consequence to posterity and economics.
As an example he cited France. In a matter of years it was implied that there will be no more white Frenchman. Because there are more white old Frenchmen dying than are born. The majority of France standing population are actually immigrants. This holds true for other European countries. In fact, most European countries today has a child subsidy policy of about 250 Euros per child per month. Just to encourage people to make babies so as to replenish the collapsing population. The subsidy is available to non-Europeans. All it requires is that the parent is a legal resident.

If there are more retired people than the working population. The working population has to pay more in terms of taxes and social security to support the increasing aging population. Increased taxes are not good investment attractions.

What does it mean for us? If your single, go and live in the European Union countries, find a mate and multiply. If your married, then bring your family and multiply some more. You can send back your children here for affordable education and get back there again. 250 Euros per child per month can actually sustain more than one child here in the Philippines.

What does it mean for Catholic Christianity? This is our opportunity to re evangelize the once Catholic Europe which seem to be losing to materialism.

So, brothers this is now your opportunity to fulfill the very first commandment:

"Go forth and multiply!"

Having the Most Sensational Skylight

0 comments Links to this post
You can add elegance to your house by installing a skylight. Skylights give the illusion of space to your home. It can receive more light than your regular vertical windows. The added illumination during the day lightens up your house. This makes your house much roomier than it actually is. At night, skylights provide breath taking view of the sky especially during clear weather.

Installation of skylights involve expert skills and above average workmanship. In order to ensure that you can protect your roof from the installation, it is recommended that you get the services of professional roofers. Unless you have superior skills in roofing constructions, doing it yourself or employing a local handyman may cause damage to your roof, to its structure, and to the integrity of your house’s interiors.

Poorly installed skylights are the most common sources of leaks. Improper installation of skylight step flashings and roof flashings over shingles can cause breaks in your roofing materials. These breaks are normal entry point of water and when it rains, you better prepare a bucket to catch water droplets from your skylights. So to be sure about your new roof construction, get the services of professional roofing contractor.

Not all skylight designs and types are the same. Some skylights fit a particular roof structure while others may not. You could have installed a nice skylight but it might not be compatible with the main structural design of your roofing. Aside from improper installation, choosing the wrong skylight for your roof is the next problem area. If you installed the wrong skylight to your roof the chances of having roof leaks can happen sooner or later. That is why the services of a roofing contractor are essential.

Professional evaluation will be made first by your contractor to determine the build and structures of your roof. This evaluation will be used in order to choose what particular skylight design is appropriate for your roof. They could offer you several builds that will be suited for your roof. So you don’t have to worry anymore if you have chosen the correct skylight for your roof or not. The professionals will do it for you. All you have to do is to choose which style of skylight best suits your character.

A skylight is an excellent addition to your roofing aesthetics. It also has practical uses such as additional illumination and heating during summer. Some people say that skylights often cause leaks. That idea is a myth because skylight per se does not cause leaks. Improper installation and inappropriate skylight materials are the ones causing the leaks. So to be sure about proper skylight installation, you must have a professional roofing contractor do the work for you. You will definitely have a leak-free skylight not to mention the elegance it will bring to your home.

HACCP: Ensuring Quality Food Handling

HACCP stands for Hazards Analysis Critical Control Point. It is a management tool in order to protect the supply of food against health hazards. HACCP is recognized by the FAO-WHO and it is the recommended method to avoid and prevent illness due to food contamination.

HACCP was developed by the Pillsbury company in the 1960's as a project for ensuring food safety. The Pillsbury project was conducted to serve the needs of the NASA Space Program. NASA demanded a zero-defect food program for its astronauts in space. So HACCP was born and it is based on a system that seeks to eliminate failure modes in the food handling process. This system also instituted effects analysis in every stage of the food handling process. So what goes wrong in a stage should be analyzed to determine its causes, probable effects, and what should be the corrective actions. The stress of HACCP is in its control stage. Control of hazards is critical from the first stage of the food processing until the production of finished goods.

HACCP is not a zero-defect, non-risk system. This food processing methodology is used to minimize the hazards in handling food supply form the source up to the end process.

Food establishments are required by appropriate food and health agencies to implement HACCP in their food processing operations. This would ensure that the food served to consumers are quality made and free from hazards.
